These pictures are selections from a book project called Israel By Land. In the most straightforward general terms the book is a journal of my journey through Israel for the first time, a young Jew thousands of miles from home discovering, confronting, and intellectually prodding the idea of this "homeland." As a document, it is purely subjective, and I find myself interested as much in how I am shooting and what I am doing with photography as I am in the subject matter itself. It was the first time - for example - I found myself shooting what might be considered landscapes. |
